Honestly, I don’t think there is anyone better to tell you about Jill and Cory’s Ohio State football stadium surprise proposal than Cory himself.

He found me through Instagram and when he inquired with me about shooting his surprise proposal at Ohio Stadium (home of the Buckeyes!), he had the sweetest words to say about their relationship, and the significance that Ohio State University holds to both of them.

“For Jill & I, it all started at Ohio State University. I was born and raised in a small town 90 minutes west of Columbus while Jill was raised in Cleveland. We would have never met if we both hadn’t chosen this university for undergraduate and the university is really the foundation of where it all started when we started hanging out 5 years ago this month. She has her own story in Cleveland and what that means to her and I have the same with Sidney, OH but together we have what Columbus means to us. That said, this is why I chose to propose inside of Ohio Stadium.”

I don’t think it’s possible to hear a love story like that and not have your heart melt into a giant puddle. I instantly said YES to shooting the proposal, and Cory and I started scheming. He had the whole thing perfectly planned – he got a friend to ask Jill if they wanted a private tour of the stadium before a dinner with friends, and I just “happened” to be in the stadium at the same time, pretending to be a university photographer taking some promotional photos for the marketing department. I innocently walked up to the two of the on their “private tour” (Cory actually rented out the entire stadium just for this moment!) and offered to take a picture for the two of them. I posed them the way I wanted, I asked Jill to turn around, and BAM. Cory was on one knee, proposing to the love of his life.

It was the perfect moment: Cory executed his plan perfectly, Jill was so very surprised, and I just kept smiling SO big because I couldn’t believe I got to be a part such an incredibly happy moment. But that’s enough words – these photos speak for themselves. You can see the pure JOY radiating from both Cory and Jill as they celebrated together and shared the news with their family and friends.
