Have you ever wondered how to dye easter eggs naturally at home?
Easter is only 2 days away, and this year is a little different as we are all quarantining at home (if you’re reading this blog post in the future, this was the year of coronavirus and social distancing🙃). I wanted to do a fun styled shoot for easter, so I decided I wanted to color hard boiled Easter eggs!
The only problems are that I really hate the artificial colors and toxins found in store bought egg dye (neons are not my jam) and I also didn’t want to make a trip to the store. So just in case you’re in the same boat as I am this year, I thought I’d share with you my favorite method I’ve found to dye easter eggs naturally from home.
I’ve used this method for a few years now and I LOVE the gorgeous natural colors! If you’re a photographer or blogger, naturally dyeing your eggs produces lovely colors for your photos and posts. And I know everyone will love that you get to use up ingredients you have already sitting around your pantry, and it never turns out the same way twice — it’s a win-win!
what to do:
-
Hard boil white eggs (I used my instant pot — so easy!)
-
Make a large pot of boiling water
-
Collect spices and ingredients, and separate them out into separate cups and then fill the cups halfway with the boiling water
-
Place a hard-boiled egg into each cup, and leave them to sit for a few hours, or overnight
-
Rinse each egg and let them dry! Voilà!
before + After:
Here’s a little before and after of the dyeing process:
Some ingredients i used (feel free to get creative!):

-
ground coffee
-
