We woke up on Lyssa + Jonathan’s Lake Michigan summer wedding day to a forecast of rain and thunderstorms, but they ended up having the PERFECT weather for their beautiful wedding at the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The lovely ceremony venue overlooks Lake Michigan, and it provided the perfect backdrop as this precious couple said “I do.”

The story of how I was asked to shoot their wedding is so fun – Lyssa actually found me on Facebook! She saw Megan and Jay’s greenhouse engagement session in her feed because she had been friends with Megan back in kindergarten (and I got to do double duty as photographer AND bridesmaid when Megan and Jay tied the knot back in December). Lyssa reached out, we FaceTimed multiple times, and each time we talked, I got off the phone feeling like I had found a new friend. Fast forward to her rehearsal the night before her wedding, and her friends and family kept asking us how long we had been friends because we hit it off SO well, it seemed like we had known each other forever.

There are SO many things I could say about this couple – about the way they cherish each other, the way Jonathan looks at Lyssa like she’s the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, and the way she looks at him with pure adoration. (Y’all – no kidding I cried so many times just watching the way they look at each other *tears tears tears*). But I don’t have to tell you that – these pictures truly do speak for themselves. I cannot wait to watch these two grow old together; congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Johnson!
